Developing a Game Engine

Hello,

I’ve been away from my blog since I’ve also been away from gamedev because of work and school. I’m working on a 2D Game Engine that I’m looking forward to use in further projects. The Engine is not very complex.

I already had some base code done in previous projects and I’m using it in the Engine. For now I’m taking care of MapElements handling and brushes. In the future I’m looking forward to implement Box2D and .xml file handling using tinyxml as parser. 

The Main part of the Engine is the Map Editor. I’ll probabily start over a project that I have in mind, when I finish the Editor part and then update the Engine with Gameplay and character handling stuff.

I’ve been away from my Tumblr and also away from gamedev for a while. I will get back to work as soon as possible. I’m reading a book about game core programming and algorithms that seems to be very useful. Cya Around

Project Strategy Prototype dev.

     As you may know, I’ve been working on the prototype for my game, that I call Project Strategy. I already have the Logo for it, some tilesets and I’m currently working on Input and Menu handling. The Map loads perfectly and LittleCodingFox already provided me the lates update of his converter and loader that I adapted to Project Strategy. I’m loving to programme a game. It’s simple, although there are many things that are kind of hard for me since I’m stil a newbie on GameDev. I’ll continue to improve my pixel art skills and also my programming skills so I can make the games that I have in mind one day.

Today I loaded the map made on Tiled Map Editor. I fixed a bug and fixed the map resolution. Tomorrow I’ll probabily work on object handling. I already got the name but let’s call it ProjectStrategy for now. Here is a screen of the prototype map so far. {

First Project hit the road

Today I started my first project! I already have the .tmx converter and the map loader running thanks to LittleCodingFox. Now I’m starting a kind of strategy game. It’s diferent from anything you have see. i’ll try to do my best.

      I still have no name for the game but I’ll think about something. It’s not going to be a big game and I’m thinking on launching a kind of alpha version and then upgrade it time to time until it reaches full versio. I’ll start with the tilesets! Lets get to work!

Tiled Map Editor Loader Done!

I’ve finished my tiled map editor loader. I stil didn’t test it, but I’ll see that tomorrow. Thank you LittleCodingFox for the .tmx converter and for the tips. Creating Maps will be a lot easier now =D

Finished my first game!

Finished my first game! It’s a very simple TicTacToe made with C++ -> SFML 2.0. Its very simple but it was fun to do. you can download it with the source code here. I can explain how to do that, or at leat try to explain, just ask! =D
